Wind Turbine Blows Us Away!
The Drumlin Wind Energy Co-Op invited our P6/7 class along for a close-up view of one of their six wind turbines situated in Northern Ireland.
The near-by Cavanakill 250kW turbine is a stone's throw from St. Michael's and is currently generating clean, green energy to the Newtownhamilton area.
Our very informative guide Ken Orr told the children all about the workings of their turbine and the benefits of renewable sources of energy.
We were allowed to enter the turbine itself while Ken pointed out the many switches and buttons which make this huge machine generate electricity.
Drumlin Wind Energy have also guided the children in constructing model turbines back in the classroom.
