The P.5 class were delighted to welcome in firefighter Gavin Marron to their class this morning. He took the time out from his busy job to discuss with the children in P.5 the importance of safety precautions at home.
Some of the precautions that can be taken at home and discussed were:
- keeping exit routes clear
- Closing kitchen and living room doors at night
- testing your smoke alarm once a week
- extinguishing candles carefully at night
- putting a fire guard around the fire at night
- turning switches off
- using proper extension leads
- knowing an escape route from upstairs.
So many important aspects of safety that we can all follow in our homes!
