Today we welcomed Louise Smith, the Irish Language Unit Manager from Newry Mourne and Down District Council. We also welcomed Council Chairperson Councillor Pete Byrne. They came to school accompanied by a film crew to film our fantastic pupils singing, “Silent Night,” in Irish. St. Michael’s P.S. will feature in a short video series called Spreagadh/ Inspiration to showcase the excellent work being done through the Gael Linn, “Scoil Spreagtha” project to promote the use of the Irish language in English medium primary schools in the Council District.
