Our school had an art competition recently and we took inspiration from the legend 'Children of Lir' because our school crest is about Children of Lir. Legend says that the swans landed in Newtownhamiltion and Lir grove in Dungormely is named after the legend.
The Children of Lir legend is of particular interest since the palace of Lir was located in the townland of Armaghbrague, a mile from our school.
